| Eng Tay was born
in 1947 and raised in Kedah, West Malaysia. He moved to New
York City to study fine arts at the Art Students League in
1968. He also attended the School of Visual Arts in New York
City from 1969 to 1972 and later received his graduate degree
as a graphic designer.
Eng Tay is best known for his oils and limited edition
etchings. In 1985, his first major exhibition was at
the Nan Gallery in Taipei. Later that year he had a solo
exhibition at the Fine Arts Original Gallery in Miami.
Through 1987-1993 he had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles,
Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and England. In addition,
exhibitions of his works were held in New York City,
Japan, Connecticut, Tennessee and Taiwan in 1994. To
present day, Eng Tay's paintings are still exhibited
in many parts of the United States and Southeast Asia.
Eng Tay and his family have lived in New York City since
1981, and spend part of each year in France and Southeast
Asia
